Labour Integration reinforces diversity in the local communities, promotes social cohesion and allows for the utilization of new skills and talents. This was the predominant message of the first in a series of workshops, entitled «Women Refugees in the Workplace» that took place on March 16th, 2022.
The workshops were organised by Cyprus Refugee Council and Emphasys Center in the context of the project ENGAGE – Developing Inclusive Integration Paths for Migrant Women (Project no:957673) and are co-funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) of the European Union.
The presentation followed a productive discussion with the HR representatives and generated promising messages for the inclusivity of women with refugee background, in the Cypriot business environment. The seminars highlighted the key challenges that women refugees face in their search for job and stability in their new homes, while emphasis was given on the prospects and opportunities that arise for local societies from their effective integration. Lastly, the discussions shed light on successful practices for facilitating the integration of women refugees in the workplace that stimulate the feelings of belonging in a team and consequently in the local society.
More workshops to come in the coming weeks.
